ProMusica Arizona is founded in the desire to provide residents of the Phoenix North Valley an opportunity to perform music, to promote and nurture public interest in music, to encourage a deeper appreciation of music, and to build community through the shared experience of creating fine music.

Organization Profile

ProMusica Arizona Chorale and Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Founded in 2003, and incorporated in 2004, PMA has achieved resounding success in a very short time, due to dedication of the members, and superb community support. ProMusica AZ is a proud member of Chorus America, American Symphony Orchestra League, the Arizona Orchestra Association, Anthem Chamber of Commerce, and a founding member of the Arts Council of the North Valley

The History of ProMusica Arizona

In the fall of 2003, several small groups of singers had recently moved to the area and were searching for a place to sing.  It must have been fate that led them to meet Anthem resident Kevin Kozacek.  Mr. Kozacek is an experienced choral and orchestra conductor who was contemplating building a community based music program.  Voila!  ProMusica Arizona Chorale was formed.

Starting with just 17 singers, the group rapidly grew to 35 vocalists who performed at the well-received December holiday performances at the Anthem Country Club and Anthem Community Park.

Undaunted by the challenges of a new choral organization, Mr. Kozacek began development of the ProMusica Arizona Orchestra in January 2004. The Orchestra now has more than 40 musicians.

During that same time, the ranks of the chorus expanded to more than 50 singers who then performed May 22, 2004 on the same bill as the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra during the "Music in May" Concert series at Anthem Community Park.  Also in May 2004, ProMusica Arizona Chorale and Orchestra officially gained 501c3 non-profit status.

On November 13, 2004, ProMusica Arizona Chorale and Orchestra staged its first major fundraiser, "Fanfare for Community Arts", a day long celebration at the grand opening of the Boulder Creek High School Performing Arts Center.  More than 1500 people from across the state of Arizona attended this event with tremendous public support from the Phoenix North Valley.  Joining forces with Kate Campbell Stevenson and her one-woman show, "Women: Back to the Future" , ProMusica Arizona presented four special performances including a spectacular evening gala featuring Broadway and Hollywood music that netted the organization more than $20,000. These funds catapulted the successful beginnings of the fledgling group.  ProMusica Arizona was also proud to present $2500 to the Boulder Creek High School Fine Arts Department to help equip the Performing Arts Center, which has become a major venue for arts in the North Valley.

ProMusica Arizona members come from many communities throughout the North Phoenix area including Glendale, Peoria, Cave Creek, New River, Anthem, Desert Hills, Carefree, Tramonto and Flagstaff.  Both the Chorale and Orchestra rehearse Monday evenings during the spring and fall seasons at Boulder Creek High School in Anthem.
