PMAZ proudly presents a special benefit performance to kick off its 2009-10 season. A Broadway Duo evening of favorite classics performed by guest singers John Stevenson and Kate Campbell Stevenson from the East Coast. The Stevensons will thrill audiences with their gorgeous voices, singing solos and duets from the lead musical characters they have portrayed throughout their long careers in the musical theater. The Stevensons are accomplished singers and actors who have performed nationally and internationally. John recently sang at the Kennedy Center’s Salute to Apollo’s 40th Anniversary. Kate stars in her own one woman musical show and appears all over the USA. Selections from Oklahoma, Sound of Music, I Do, I Do, Camelot, Shennendoah, The Fantastics, Into the Woods, Phantom of the Opera, Porgy & Bess, Ragtime, A Little Night Music and more. The Stevensons will be accompanied by PMAZ pianist, Karen Taylor. This festive event will also feature performances by PMAZ's small vocal and string ensembles. The Friday concert also includes video and a silent auction.

For centuries man has celebrated his triumph over enemies, disease, oppression and personal challenges through a variety of music. PMAZ presents an entire concert of jubilant music including Verdi’s Triumphal March from Aida to John William’s celebration of the Force defeating the Evil Empire in Star Wars; John Henry defeating the steam engine, the Ukrainian nation rejoicing in their final release from oppression; Rocky raising his fists at the top of the stairs, and the Tortoise beating the Hare and many others that inspire the spirit.

Sounds of the Holidays will celebrate all the musical sounds associated with the holiday season. From Santa Claus, Jingle Bells, Rudolph, the bustle of shopping and family celebrations, to the carols and songs of Christmas and Hanukkah, this is a diverse concert meant for all ages and beliefs. Target has underwritten free tickets for children to the matinee performance of this event. Adults are eligible to order two free children’s (13 years old and under) for every paid adult ticket to the matinee performance only.

The cornerstone of this concert is the premier of PMAZ’s first music commission, “Full Follow the Path.” The work is written for full orchestra and chorale, and is partially funded by the Campbell-Henry family in memory of their father and beloved patron of the arts, Dr. Richard Campbell. Rounding out the concert will be selections from the folk and concert repertoire of the British Isles, including Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, and the Celtic tunes The Rocky Road to Dublin, Molly Malone, and Red is the Rose.

What better way to celebrate the end of the of concert season than with “The Sounds of America”. The Chorale will perform Howard Hanson’s Song of Democracy, and other patriotic medleys celebrating our heritage. The orchestra will perform Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever March, a 60’s sing-along of our favorite songs, and Gould’s American Salute. The combined choir and orchestra will continue with stirring renditions of To the Flag and The Battle Hymn of the Republic. And finally, the new PMAZ Honor Children’s Choir will make its debut with patriotic selections from their concert. This blockbuster concert is one that can’t be missed!! Target has also underwritten free children’s tickets to this event. Two free children’s tickets available for every paying adult accompanying them.
