Auditions July 24-27, 2008 For Promusica Arizona Chorale And Orchestra 2008-2009 Season

Do you love making music and making new friends? ProMusica Arizona Chorale and Orchestra is holding auditions for singers and orchestra musicians interested in performing in its four major concerts scheduled for the 2008-09 Season (check out www.promusicaaz.org for details.)

PMAZ is a community music organization consisting of approximately 100 volunteers from throughout the north valley. Members range in age from eleven to senior citizens. PMAZ is not a professional organization but is looking for members of at least “intermediate” musical abilities. PMAZ orchestra will rehearse in Anthem every Monday evening 7 PM-9 PM beginning August 18, 2008. The Chorale will rehearse every Tuesday evening 7 PM-9 PM beginning August 19, 2008 at Boulder Creek High School. All interested singers and musicians are encouraged to audition even if you have previously been told there are no openings in your section. People move and openings occur. There are current openings in all sections of the Chorale and most sections of the orchestra.

For those interested in auditions: call asap or email and set a time within the dates listed below. Auditions are by appointment only. Understand that this is a VOLUNTEER organization. Members are asked to pay a membership fee, commit to rehearsal/performance schedule and volunteer for committee work. At your audition be prepared to sing/play dynamically(F-p), interpretively (legato-staccato) and at various tempos. Don’t stress, have fun and look forward to a great season of making music with your friends.

Chorale: Be prepared to Sing “America the Beautiful”, sight read and vocalize your range. We are looking for basic music reading ability, pitch matching and tonal memory through seven tones.

Orchestra: Bring a 2 minute song of your choice, two scales that you can play throughout your range (one major and one minor, harmonic or natural). Percussion: Mallets; same as above. Sticks; will be a “fundamentals” assessment. Strings: Suzuki level 3 or better and scales for 5 sharps and flats for all players.
