Broadway Comes to Arizona
ProMusica Arizona’s Concert Season Begins Friday, October 2

Calling all Broadway music fans!  ProMusica Arizona’s (PMAZ’s) first production of the 2009-10 season promises “Food, Fun, and Music” guaranteed to satisfy.  The Sounds of Broadway performance features not only the music we have all come to love but also the opportunity to enjoy refreshments while wildly out-bidding each other on the silent auction items donated in support of PMAZ.  Just think—you, too, could be the proud owner of a singing telegram, entertainment for a party, or 2 tickets to the Arizona Broadway Dinner Theatre.   Would you really like to sing along?  You can purchase voice lessons!  Don’t like to cook but like to entertain your friends? Gather your friends and bid on a six-course, gourmet Venetian Music and Wine Dinner for Eight.  Or maybe an old Fashioned Wisconsin Beer and Brat Fry for 20 is for you. Or how about attending the October 16 concert and treating your 16 best friends to your very own post-concert reception?   If you are crafty enough, you might even get a great deal on a 4-day 3-night stay at Talking Rock Resort in Prescott.  For this very special event, the Desert View Bible Church  will open its doors at 6:30 pm so get there early to scout out the auction items you absolutely must have while you enjoy visiting with (and out-bidding) other audience members.  Auction will continue at intermission.  You will have one last chance to check your bids, and winners will be announced at the end of the show.

The Sounds of Broadway performance begins at 7:30 pm and features John and Kate Campbell Stevenson offering selections from such shows as My Fair Lady, Camelot, South Pacific, Show Boat, Phantom of the Opera, and Oklahoma.  (You just started silently singing “Oooooooook-lahoma, where the wind comes right behind the rain………………”)  John and Kate each have extensive backgrounds in theater.  Kate has starred in more than 30 Broadway musical productions in regional theaters throughout the country and is currently performing in her one-woman musicals, “Women:  Back to the Future” and Petticoats and Politics.”  Kate met her husband John 34 years ago when he cast her as Guinevere opposite his King Arthur in Camelot, and the rest as they say is history.  John has sung at Presidential inaugurations and other White House functions as part of the United States Army Chorus, soloed with the National Symphony Orchestra, and recently performed at the Kennedy Center Salute to Apollo-40th Anniversary.   The talented duo will be accompanied by PMAZ pianist Karen Taylor, and the evening will also include PMAZ’s small vocal ensemble.

For more information and tickets to this very special event at the Desert View Bible Church, 105 W. Carefree Highway, go to www.promusicaaz.org or call 623-465-4650.  (And start reviewing your bidding strategy for those special auction items.)
