ANTHEM WOMEN'S CLUB AWARDS MUSIC GRANT
ANTHEM, AZ (March 7, 2006) - The GFWC Anthem Women's Club recently has been named as one of the 2006 recipients of the GFWC-Arizona Central District Music Grant. The grant money will be given to ProMusica Arizona to supplement the costs of purchasing sheet music for their upcoming spring concert, Cowboys, Country and Copland . The music purchased for the choir will be "Buffalo Gals" by Aaron Copland. Music is a huge part of ProMusica Arizona 's operating budget - approximately $5,000 a year. One song for the entire choir can cost between $120 and $150. Orchestral arrangements run approximately $75. Each sheet of "Buffalo Gals" will be labeled as being donated by the GFWC and kept in our permanent library.
The Cochise Children's Choir from Sierra Vista , Arizona will be performing with the ProMusica Arizona Chorale March 31 st and April 1 st as a part of their spring concert. The concert will be held at Boulder Creek Performing Arts Center in Anthem. This concert is one of few musical events serving the North Valley and is expected to draw audiences of over 800 people over two performances.
"Arts in the community is one of the national GFWC areas of focus," said Heidi Banning, Anthem Women's Club President. " We are thrilled our club received this grant and happy ProMusica Arizona can benefit ."
